Disciplined pursuit of wonder.
Begin with the End in Mind without Being Preposterous.

- Great assessment begins with communicating clear expectations of what student mastery should look like. (Keep the end in mind)
- Provide some sort of learning map on the front end (objectives guide, skills sheet, or self-assessment guide).
- Paint a vivid picture of what you will be looking for with examples, demonstrations, or instances from the pupil’s other courses.
- Great assessment progresses through building up to the end mastery while avoiding beginning where assessment should have ended. (Avoid being preposterous)
- Mastery of understanding follows mastery of thinking. Mastery of thinking follows memory work. Avoid assessing for understanding until after assessing for thinking and memory.
